Baking Paschas
Each year, with the help of the ladies of the Altar Society, the children of St. Nicholas Church in Barberton celebrate the tradition of making paschas for their Easter baskets. The ladies prepare the dough, then each child shapes his own pascha. Each bread is labeled with the child’s name and the ladies bake and freeze them. They are distributed on Palm Sunday so each child can place the pascha, along with other traditional foods, in the basket he/she brings to church for blessing on the Feast of the Resurrection.
