Our New Icon - St. Michael
A beautiful new icon graces the entry way into the church of St. Nicholas, Barberton. This is the icon of Saint Michael the Archangel. Donated by parishioner Michael Evancho, this large size icon was written by the hand of Miron Kerul Kmec Jr.
In expressing his desire to commission this icon, Michael states that it will have a three-fold purpose. First, to honor his patron saint, and secondly, in memory of his deceased parents. The third reason is very timely to the recent activity at Saint Nicholas church. It is Mike's desire, in representing the parish, that this icon be a comfort to the newest members of our family; who have joined us, coming from the former church of St. Michael, our neighboring church in Akron, which was recently closed.
Blessed at the Christmas Eve Liturgy, we pray that the icon of Saint Michael will be a source of encouragement and joy, just as the little baby born in the cave at Bethlehem, for each and every one of us.
