Altar Society
The St. Nicholas Altar Society was formed by the women of the parish in April, 1964. It is governed volunteers in the positions of president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary. The Altar Society is a very active organization that sponsors fund-raising activities to help pay for the needs of the church. One of the larger projects of the Altar Society was their assistance in funding the renovation of the rectory in the spring of 2008. Fund-raising activities include a semi-annual rummage and bake sale, the sale of homemade nut rolls, poppy seed rolls and bread, the sale of Pascha bread at Easter and a Christmas Bake Sale in December. Members also work at the monthly Cabbage Roll dinners and Fish Fry dinners.
In addition to these events, the women also clean the church, help the children of the parish make their own Pascha bread for Easter, and send greeting cards to shut-ins and sick members of the parish.
