The Real Spiritual Life
A person who is spiritual takes God into every area of life. He asks questions such as, “What sort of person does God want me to marry? What career does God want me to follow? Where does He want me to go to college? What does God want me to do in this particular situation?” These are spiritual questions.
Some Aspects of Spirituality - True spirituality manifests itself in what we desire most in life.
1. First, do we desire to be holy rather than happy?
2. A person may be considered spiritual when he seeks the honor of God advanced through his life even if it means temporary dishonor or loss for himself.
3. The spiritual person desires to take up his cross and follow Jesus.
4. A Christian is spiritual when he tries to look at everything from God’s point of view and not from the viewpoint of public opinion.
5. Another desire of the spiritual person is the willingness to suffer or die for righteousness rather than to live in unrighteousness.
6. The spiritual person desires to see others advance spiritually even at his expense. Like Jesus his purpose in life is to serve, not to be served.
7. The spiritual person habitually makes judgments based on eternal rather than temporal values.
8. The truly spiritual person is a living, praying, worshipping member of the Body of Christ, the Church, who partakes of the sacraments regularly and prays daily for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
